Welcome to 2013! I'm excited to share another year with you. We are so grateful for your support over the past two and a half years, and we're excited for what may come this new year!
It's been a big year for Occasionally Crafty. We got a new co-author, a new blog design, and you may not have noticed, but we're now a .com! (Don't worry- your bookmarks should automatically redirect, but if you want to update, we're now www.occasionallycrafty.com)
One thing I've decided to participate in this is year is choosing a Word of the Year. I like the idea of choosing something meaningful to you to focus on in the upcoming year. I've been reading some other posts about it. I especially appreciated Leigh Anne's from Your Home Based Mom. Go read it when your'e done here- you'll enjoy it!
When I think about the goals I'd like to set this year, I found that they all had something in common. They are all about my home and my family.
I want to be more healthy, so I can feel good about myself and set a good example for my children.
I want to be more positive, so I face the spilled milk and Lego messes with a shrug instead of anger.
I want to do a better job organizing and cleaning my home, so it's a sanctuary for my family and a comfort for our friends when they visit.
I want to cherish my children every day, because as we learned last month, you never know when they might be taken from you
And that's where the word I want to focus on came into my mind and refused to leave. The word I've chosen is "Home".
It's not just about keeping a clean home- it's about making that home a place where you can feel love and where a mess doesn't distract you from the good feelings that should be found there.
It's not just about spending time with my children, it's about making them feel safe and loved.
It's not about spending more time at home (since, as a SAHM, I do plenty of that!) but making home a place where people want to come and stay.
I'm thankful for my home and my family. I love my husband and children, and I'm grateful not only for a roof over my head, but that I have the ability to improve that home through some of the things I do on this blog. So, don't be surprised if you see more projects that help me focus on my word of the year.
Have you chosen a Word of the Year? I'd love to know what it is!
Your blog is adorable! I found you guys on Facebook and just liked! I'm definitely following your blog now as well. Hope you'll check out my DIY site and follow back if you like what I do!
