Here in my new house, I have a mantel with a really big, blank wall behind it.
So, when I decorate, I have to put big things up there or it kind of looks ridiculous.
I saw this tutorial from Sincerely, Sara D and knew I wanted to make my own, oversized version for my fall mantle. So, I did!
I purchased a 24x48 piece of plywood at Home Depot, then cut in half to make a 24x24 inch sign.
Then I painted it with some creamy white paint I had on hand.
I cut the design with my Silhouette. Because I didn't come up with this, I'm not offering it as a cut file. But I can tell you the font I used is Realist-Regular. You could use Garamond for a similar look if you don't want to pay for a font.
I cut all the words in black adhesive vinyl, then applied a section at a time.
I didn't want a big orange vinyl pumpkin, so I actually painted that, using old vinyl as a stencil, and sanded it a little.
Then I applied the remaining words on top of the paint once it was dry.
I love it as part of my fall mantle this year. Last year I just had the old window and I felt it needed something else.
