Farmhouse Bathroom Sign + Free Cut File!

This farmhouse-style wooden sign is perfect for your bathroom!

Earlier this week I showed you our basement bathroom makeover.  While I still have some decorating to do, I did get this farmhouse-style bathroom sign finished and wanted to share it with you.

Unfortunately, I made this sign while I wasn't blogging last year, so I don't have any process pictures.  So I'll do my best to explain how I made it.  It's really pretty easy.

You'll need the following supplies:
12x12 plywood (I buy mine at Michael's)
4 ft of 1x1 trim (again, Michael's has balsa wood pieces or you can get it at Home Depot)
paint

Vinyl Cutting Machine and adhesive vinyl, transfer tape

1.  Paint your board and stain your trim.  I use Minwax Antique Walnut for the trim and some leftover creamy white touch-up paint the sellers left for our house.  Let dry completely.
2.  Cut out your vinyl and remove the letters, leaving the insides of letters and the surrounding vinyl intact.  Use transfer tape to move your stencil to your plywood board.
3.  Paint inside the letters, using several light coats.  Let dry, then remove the stencil.
2.  Cut your trim to size.  I have two 12 inch pieces for the top and bottom and then the two shorter pieces on the sides.  They end up being about 10 inches each.
3.  Attach your trim with wood glue or using a nail gun with short brads.
4.  Attach a hanger on the back so you can display your new sign on the wall!

I love making my own signs- it's so hard to find exactly what you want, so having the supplies to make my own not only save me money, but tons of time searching as well.

Have a great weekend!
