Do you remember that I am doing a master bedroom redo? I've got the big stuff done, like painting, choosing bedding, etc. What I have problems with is decorating and staging. I can see what I want it to look like in my head, but I have a difficult time pulling things together to make it perfect.
So, until I get that finished, I am showing you projects I've done for the bedroom a little at a time. I showed you my Striped Canvas Wall Art before, and today I'm sharing what I put on the other side of the window. This is my Special Date Stenciled Canvas.
I used our wedding date, so now my husband always knows when it is and how many years it has been!
He also thinks it looks military-ish with the stencil, but I like it. I think I should've made the numbers even bigger!
This is really a piece that catches your eye, and is simple to make. Craft stores sell flat canvas blanks in the art department. This canvas is 18x24 and came in a two-pack for $11.99. With my 40% off coupon, this was very frugal!
Paint the canvas in your choice of color. Once it is completely dry, simply cut, weed, and apply vinyl numbers as desired. I used the "Stencil" font in Silhouette Studio, and after cutting them out O just centered my numbers on the canvas.
If you're having trouble applying vinyl to your canvas, you can try applying a coat of clear Mod Podge over the paint to give it something more to adhere to. I didn't have a problem, but I know sometimes it happens.
This looks lovely over our dresser. Now, to get going on the rest of the details.....
This is great! I've been wanting to make one of these so badly! Love the simplicity but significance of it. I really need to jump on the bandwagon and get a Silhouette. I'm so behind the times, LOL! ;)
Thanks so much for stopping by! I try to answer all valid comments as soon as possible, but you can also email info@occasionallycrafty.com with an urgent question. Have a great day!
