Sister's Challenge {Gold}: Fall Tablescape

I just {love} doing these Sister's challenges! It really makes me think outside the box and come up with something fun. Valerie picked our theme of 'Gold' this time around. Did you see her awesome Romantic Wall Art yesterday? I love it!
Well Valerie was right, this time for our Sister's Challenge our crafts are totally different. Actually I was quite stumped for awhile because I really don't use gold in anything, ever. I thought about doing some gold leafing, or maybe turning some acorns into golden acorns, but nothing was really clicking.
So, I turned to my friend Pinterest and started browsing with the search words 'gold' and 'decor'.
The two items that stuck out to me were these gold polka-dot vases, and this burlap table runner, and I used them as pin-spiration to create this awesome Fall Tablescape!

In order to create this look I needed the following materials:
  • 2 Mason Jars
  • 2 Flower Bundles
  • Burlap Roll
  • Gold Heat Transfer Vinyl
  • Gold Oil-based marker
I found everything except the heat transfer vinyl at Michael's. The flowers were 50% off and the burlap roll you can find near the floral section where all the wire wreath forms are.

The pin I found with the polka-dotted burlap table runner is more of a tutorial on how to make edging on plain burlap, not how to put the polka dots on it. I suppose she found that fabric with dots already on it. But the dots were what I loved about it, so I turned it into a DIY moment! I ordered some gold Siser Easyweed heat transfer vinyl and cut as many dots as I could onto the sheet!

Then I cut out each and every little circle, carefully placed them onto my burlap, and ironed away!(Don't forget to put a cloth between the heat transfer material and your iron- not pictured) This took me quite awhile, but between some podcasts and a movie with the hubby, I got it done!

Now it was time to spruce up some mason jars with gold dots, just like the vases I had seen. I loved how there were more dots at the bottom and scattered to the top. I used my oil-based gold marker, which was so much fun!

Now all that was left was to add my flowers to the jars and make my table look so pretty! The little berries in my store-bought flowers match my plant perfectly! Who thought I'd love a little gold in my living room so much!

What a great challenge! Can't wait for next month's!
