Glitter Academy Wrap-Up: Lady in Red

Last Friday night I got to attend The Glitter Academy, hosted by Stephanie from Somewhat Simple, Kristyn from Lil' Luna, and Jamielyn from I Heart Naptime.  If you don't know what it is, it's just a fun craft night/girls' night out with local crafters and bloggers.
This time the theme was Lady in Red- so of course we all wore something red!  It was hosted by Cricut and held at Macayo's by ASU.

Dinner was delicious- especially the Chicken Chimichangas  (which I just had to retype three times!)

There was also a beautiful dessert table with maybe the cutest cake I've seen!  (It was outdoors in the dark so the lighting is not great for these pictures).

After dinner, the team from Cricut presented us with our craft for the evening.  We got to use their new Glitter Heat Transfer to make some cute tote bags.

Then, American Crafts was very generous in providing us some craft supplies to take home.

You can see we got some letters, flower embellishments, glitter paper, heat transfer vinyl, glitter tape, and actual glitter.
I had a really fun time with the ladies at my table.  I came with a friend, and we just grabbed some empty chairs at a table.  It turned out that three of the ladies at our table live right around me!  It was super fun to hang out with them.
Leah and Jessica are crafters that live by me.  Virginia is a scrapper from Tucson.  And Melanie also lives close to me and blogs at Reasons to Skip the Housework.

So, here are my impressions of the night:

Pros:  Love the raffle prizes, having time to socialize with new people, delicious food, beautiful and delicious dessert table, swag bags(!),and of course having a craft to do.  However....

Cons:  The craft took all of 20 seconds (iron heat transfer to a bag) but you had to wait in line for a half hour to do it.  There should have been more irons and a better set up so we weren't breaking fire code to do our craft.  And, I have to say, I kind of miss when The Glitter Academy was more of a craft night and less of a girl's night out.  It's fun to have time to meet new people, and food is always a good thing, but I like going and working on cute projects- bringing my own stuff to work on as well as the craft kits they used to offer.

Thanks to The Glitter Academy Ladies for a fun night out.  You can visit their website to join the mailing list so you won't miss the next one!

  1. I can relate to what you mean about more craft and less GNO. I used to sew with a friend once a week, but then it became more of a 'Girl's day at the fabric store'. But I still wish I would have been able to go. It would have been fun to see you again and meet some new bloggers. Thanks for the review, it helped me!
